every second counts!
The symptoms of meningitis are similar to the common flu and it can be hard to diagnose. Symptoms are known to progress quickly and the person’s health may deteriorate rapidly. Know the symptoms and act quickly. Do not wait for a rash to appear. Meningitis can kill within 24 hours.
If the disease is diagnosed early and treated promptly with antibiotics, most people make a complete recovery. Death does occur in 10-20% of cases. In addition, about 20% of people are left with permanent damage and disabilities such as deafness, learning difficulties, cerebral palsy, brain damage, or limb amputations.
